Xiaomi launches 17 Ultra smartphone and new gadgets in EU and U.K.
Xiaomi launched the Leica-branded 17 Ultra smartphone, wearables, and accessories in the EU and U.K. ahead of the Mobile World Congress.
Xiaomi, the China-based electronics company, has launched a suite of new hardware in the EU and the U.K. ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The launch is led by the Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone, which the company co-branded through a partnership with German camera manufacturer Leica. The Xiaomi 17 starts at €999, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra starts at €1,499, with a special Leica edition priced at €1,999.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 1-inch main sensor with 50-megapixel resolution and a 200-megapixel telephoto camera. It is powered by a processor from supplier Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The device contains a 6,000 mAh battery, though the Chinese version of the phone comes with a 6,800 mAh battery. The phone could be charged using a 90 W USB PD-PPS, and it supports wireless charging at 50 W. The phone features a 6.9-inch display. Meanwhile, the standard Xiaomi 17 comes with a 6,330 mAh battery that supports 100 W charging.
To accompany the smartphones, Xiaomi introduced several accessories and secondary devices with the following specifications and pricing:
- Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit & Kit Pro: The standard Photography Kit is priced at €99.99. The Pro version, which includes a 2,000 mAh battery, is priced at €199.99.
- Xiaomi Tag: A tracking device weighing 10 grams with a battery life of over a year. It is compatible with Apple’s Find My (Apple’s device tracking network) and Google’s Find Hub (Google’s device tracking network). It costs €14.9 for a single tag or €49.99 for a four-pack.
- Ultra-Slim Power Bank: A magnetic power bank measuring 6 mm in thickness and weighing 98 grams. It has a 5,000 mAh capacity, supporting 22.5 W wired charging and 15 W wireless charging. It is priced at €59.99, with an orange colorway available for €64.99.
- Xiaomi Watch 5: A smartwatch featuring a 1.54-inch display and a 930 mAh battery that lasts up to six days. It can generate a health report in 60 seconds and is priced at €299.99.
- Redmi Buds 8 Pro: Earbuds priced at €69.90 that offer up to 33 hours of battery life.
- Electric Scooter 6 Ultra: A scooter with a 1200 W peak power and a 75 km range. It starts at €329.99, with the top-tier version priced at €799.99.
The new tracking tag directly challenges existing hardware ecosystems by supporting both Apple’s Find My and Google’s Find Hub tracking networks. By offering cross-platform compatibility, Xiaomi is signaling its intent to integrate more deeply into user habits, establishing a broader footprint in the EU and U.K. markets.
