From AI cameras to smart doors: the latest in pet tech

Petlibro Scout Smart Camera and Polar Wet Food Feeder

Petlibro has expanded its hardware lineup with two new devices focused on monitoring and feeding. The Petlibro Scout Smart Camera, priced at $99.99, provides real-time insights into pet activity. The camera can automatically follow a pet’s movements and supports two-way audio communication. It uses artificial intelligence to recognize specific pet behaviors, saving daily highlights in the cloud for up to 30 days. Accessing these AI features requires a subscription, with the standard tier costing $12 a month and the premium tier priced at $17 a month.

Alongside the camera, the company introduced the Polar Wet Food Feeder for $149.99. The feeder features three compartments with a total capacity of up to 22.2 ounces, designed to keep wet food fresh for up to 72 hours while owners are away. The device uses a mobile app to manage feeding schedules and send notifications. In the event of a power outage, the feeder’s cooling system can keep the food cold for up to 12 hours.

Life360 GPS Pet Tracker and Pawport Smart Pet Door

Other manufacturers are focusing on pet security and access control. Life360 has launched a GPS pet tracker priced at $49.99, which provides real-time location tracking. The tracker attaches to a collar and utilizes geofencing to alert owners if a pet leaves a designated safe area. To access the tracker’s full features, users must subscribe to either the $14.99-per-month Gold plan or the $24.99 Platinum tier.

For home security, Pawport has introduced its Smart Pet Door for $699. Built with steel and aluminum, the door uses deadbolts to keep out unwanted animals, rain, and snow. The system connects interior and exterior doors and opens automatically when a pet wearing a compatible tracker tag approaches.

PetKit PuraMax 2 Automatic Litter Box

PetKit is updating its automated pet care offerings with the PuraMax 2, an automatic litter box priced at $499.99. The device features odor control systems, including a sealed waste bin and a deodorizing spray. Its companion mobile app tracks usage patterns and logs cat weight changes, which can help owners spot potential health issues.

Why it matters

The integration of AI and automated hardware into pet care is transforming routine maintenance into data-driven health and security management for pet owners.
