Startup Battlefield 200 applications close today

The application window for Startup Battlefield 200, organized by TechCrunch, closes today at 11:59 p.m. PT. This deadline represents the final opportunity for early-stage founders to apply to compete for $100,000 in equity-free funding—which is defined as funding that does not require giving up ownership. The competition is designed to showcase 200 of the world’s most promising early-stage startups on a global stage at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference.

The program has established a significant track record for launching early-stage companies. Over the years, more than 1,700 startups have participated in Startup Battlefield. Alumni from the competition have collectively raised over $32 billion in capital and produced more than 250 exits, including acquisitions by technology firms such as Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, Uber, and Amazon. Notable past participants include companies such as Dropbox, Cloudflare, and Discord, which entered the competition in their early stages before achieving widespread commercial scale.

For the selected cohort of 200 startups, the program provides direct exposure at TechCrunch Disrupt, an event that draws more than 10,000+ attendees, including venture capital investors and global media. Every selected company pitches live, either on the main Disrupt Stage or the Pitch Showcase Stage. Startups selected for the program receive several specific benefits to support their growth:

  • A fully funded three-day exhibition booth at the Disrupt event.
  • Complimentary passes for the startup’s team.
  • Dedicated pitch training and masterclasses led by venture capitalists and operators.
  • A featured profile within the official event application.
  • Access to press lists and lead-generation opportunities.
  • Opportunities for editorial coverage, podcasts, and speaking appearances.

Applications are open globally to early-stage startups across various industries. To qualify, participating companies typically must have a functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP)—a basic version of a product used to gather initial feedback—and a clear product demonstration. While the program is primarily aimed at pre-Series A startups—referring to companies that have not yet reached a Series A, which is a stage of venture capital financing—select Series A companies may also qualify. Out of the thousands of applicants, only 200 are selected to participate, and just 20 finalists will pitch on the main Disrupt Stage for the final prize.
