Robot vacuum manufacturer Narwal has unveiled its latest lineup of smart vacuum cleaners at the Consumer Electronics Show, a major annual tech trade show. The product launch is headlined by the Flow 2, a flagship robot vacuum that integrates artificial intelligence to map household spaces, recognize objects, and monitor home environments. The release represents a shift for the company as it incorporates computer vision and machine learning capabilities into its home hardware.

To navigate and map rooms, the Flow 2 robot vacuum uses two 1080p RGB cameras with a 136-degree field of view. According to Narwal, the vacuum cleaner has the ability to identify an unlimited number of objects. The device first attempts to identify objects locally, but if there are no matches, it sends the data to the cloud for further processing. The device uses these hardware and AI capabilities to support three specialized cleaning modes: pet care, baby care, and AI floor tag modes.

  • Pet care mode: This mode allows users to define specific zones where pets rest or spend time. It also enables users to monitor pets and check in on them via two-way audio.
  • Baby care mode: In this mode, the vacuum cleaner switches to a quiet setting near cribs and notifies users about misplaced toys.
  • AI floor tag mode: This mode is designed to recognize valuable items like jewelry, avoid them during cleaning cycles, and alert users to their presence.

Alongside the Flow 2, Narwal introduced additional hardware models to expand its cleaning lineup:

  • U50 handheld vacuum: This model weighs 1.41 kg (3.1 lbs) and features UV-C sterilization and heat treatment for allergen removal.
  • Unnamed cordless vacuum: This model features a slim design, a 360-degree swivel, and up to 50 minutes of run time. It includes an auto-empty station that supports up to 60 days of dust disposal.

Why it matters

Narwal is moving beyond simple floor cleaning by integrating AI-powered monitoring, effectively turning vacuums into home security and management tools for pets, infants, and valuable items.
