Meta launches AI-powered gaming app Pocket
Meta has launched Pocket, an AI-powered app for creating interactive games and experiences, which is likely in an early experimentation phase.
Meta has quietly launched a new application called Pocket, which allows users to generate interactive apps and games using artificial intelligence prompts. According to data from app intelligence provider Appfigures, the application debuted on June 29, 2026, on both the App Store and Google Play. The launch was first spotted by Alessandro Paluzzi, a researcher who analyzes software to discover features before official release, who published a Google Play screenshot of the application on X. Because of the application’s recent release, Appfigures noted that it cannot yet determine if the app has received any downloads. Other media outlets, including Business Insider and Investing.com, have also reported on Paluzzi’s discovery, while Meta has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Pocket is the direct result of Meta’s acquisition of the team behind the gaming platform Gizmo, which serves as the basis for the new application. According to Appfigures, Gizmo had generated 635,000 lifetime installs across both iOS and Google Play, maintaining a 98% positive sentiment among its users. In its official app store description, the software describes itself as “a creative platform for making and sharing gizmos,” which is the term used to describe the interactive experiences and games created by its users. Screenshots of Pocket on Google Play show significant similarities to Gizmo’s original application, which remains listed on the store. Like Pocket, the original Gizmo application allows users to use written artificial intelligence prompts to build small, interactive experiences and includes a discovery feed. Pocket similarly offers a scrollable feed where users can play with interactive creations made by others.
Because Meta has not officially announced the debut of the application, Pocket is likely in an experimentation phase. The release represents another step in Meta’s broader effort to make artificial intelligence creation tools more mainstream. This strategy builds on the company’s previous consumer-facing releases, which include AI-generated images created through its Meta AI app, AI videos created with its Vibes app, and AI features integrated into its video-editing app, Edits.
Why it matters
Pocket represents Meta’s continued strategy to integrate AI-driven creation tools into its ecosystem, building on previous efforts like Meta AI, Vibes, and Edits.
