Apply for TechCrunch Startup Battlefield Australia by July 6

The TechCrunch Startup Battlefield Australia competition is returning to Sydney on August 19, 2026. Organized in partnership with Stripe, the event offers local founders a platform to pitch their companies to investors. Startups interested in participating must submit their applications before the deadline on July 6.

The competition features several incentives for the selected startups. The prizes for the winners include:

  • Up to $15,000 in Stripe fee credits for the top three winners.
  • Automatic entry for the grand winner into the Startup Battlefield 200—the cohort of startups selected for the TechCrunch Disrupt competition in San Francisco this October.

The opportunity to pitch on this stage has previously served as a significant growth driver for Australian companies. Startups from the previous Sydney event have raised more than $85 million in funding. For example, in 2017, Manuri Gunawardena pitched HealthMatch, a startup that won the competition. Since that win, the company has raised more than $25 million, expanded its operations into the United States, and served over 1 million patients globally.

Similarly, past runner-up FluroSat used the exposure to secure investment from Microsoft before being acquired by Regrow Agriculture. Regrow Agriculture has now raised more than $60 million from investors including Microsoft, Airtree, and Cargill.

For Australian founders, the event provides a direct channel to present their businesses to global investors and secure exposure. With the application window closing on July 6, startups have only a brief window remaining to submit their entries for the Sydney event.

Why it matters

The event serves as a critical bridge for Australian startups to access global capital and exposure, specifically through the connection to the Startup Battlefield 200 cohort at TechCrunch Disrupt.
