Kalshi adds Threads integration for prediction market charts
Kalshi is adding a feature to embed prediction market charts into Threads posts, a move that follows the platform's recent friction with X's policies.
Kalshi, a prediction market—a platform where users bet on the outcome of future events—has introduced a new sharing feature that allows its users to embed prediction market charts directly into posts on Threads, the social network platform owned by Meta. Kalshi is integrating with Threads to facilitate conversation around forecasts. According to a blog post from the company, “with this integration, people can share their opinions alongside the forecasts they’re seeing on Kalshi,” making it easier for users to discuss various topics and potentially bet on the outcomes. This feature represents a direct effort to integrate prediction market data into social media conversations.
The integration on Threads follows a period of friction for Kalshi on X, the social network platform. In June, X named Polymarket, a rival prediction market, as its official prediction market partner. Last month, Kalshi removed its affiliate badges—markers used on social media accounts to denote sponsored or affiliate status—from X accounts run by its sponsored traders, who are traders paid or incentivized to promote a platform. This decision came after X enacted a policy that prohibits sponsored accounts from posting about sports betting. The policy shift by X occurred after prediction markets were reportedly busted for partnering with fake sports insiders who spread misinformation.
While the new share button is a smaller feature compared to the broader presence prediction markets have on X, it represents a vote of confidence in Threads. The move comes as user data appeared to show Threads growing faster than X, suggesting a shifting landscape for social media platforms. By establishing a presence on Threads, Kalshi is positioning itself to capture audience engagement on a platform that is growing faster than X, especially as X’s policies become more restrictive for prediction market platforms.
Why it matters
Kalshi’s move to Threads highlights the platform’s search for a more hospitable environment for prediction markets following X’s restrictive policies and official partnership with rival Polymarket.
