Apple adds perimenopause and menopause support to Health app
Apple is adding perimenopause and menopause support to its cycle-tracking feature, allowing users worldwide to receive notifications when cycle patterns suggest perimenopause.
On Monday, Apple announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 that it is expanding its suite of women’s health features. The company is adding perimenopause and menopause support to its existing cycle-tracking feature. Apple has deepened its focus on women’s health since 2019, the year Apple added a cycle tracker to the Apple Watch and iOS. That feature allowed users to log key information about their menstrual cycle and fertility directly within the Health app. By integrating perimenopause and menopause support, Apple is expanding the utility of its Health app to cover a broader range of life stages.
The new update addresses a large demographic and a growing market for digital health tools. According to research published in the journal Menopause, an estimated 1.1 billion women worldwide were postmenopausal as of last year. This demographic has increasingly attracted venture capital. For instance, in February, Midi Health—a digital health company focused on perimenopause and menopause care—raised $100 million in a Series D funding round. The round, which was led by Goodwater Capital, brought Midi Health’s valuation to $1 billion, highlighting the scale of the sector.
With the latest update, Apple is integrating these trends into its consumer software. According to Stacey Ford, Apple’s vice president of OS Product Management, women can receive notifications when their cycle patterns are suggestive of perimenopause. Ford noted that the feature also allows users to log symptoms and read educational information, “so you can understand more about what’s going on with your body and be better prepared to talk to your doctor.”
