Picsart launches creator monetization program for all users
Picsart is launching a creator monetization program open to all users worldwide, aiming to attract and retain creators by rewarding performance rather than follower count.
Picsart is launching a creator monetization program that is open to all creators, with no invite lists and no minimum audience size required. The initiative allows users to design original content for specific campaigns using the platform’s tools, including Picsart Aura, an AI conversational assistant that can generate and animate images and videos through text or voice prompts.
Once signed up, creators can access a dashboard displaying active prompts and creative challenges. After producing their content, creators submit a short form with the URL of their live social media post, tag it based on campaign requirements, and describe how they created it. This content is shared directly to the creator’s own Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X accounts. Earnings are calculated based on engagement metrics, including views, comments, shares, and reach. Creators can track these earnings on their dashboard and withdraw funds through Stripe, a payment processing service.
The company likely sees the move as a way to both attract and retain creators. Hovhannes Avoyan, the founder and CEO of Picsart, framed the program as a direct response to a structural problem in the digital creator landscape. “The creator economy has a structural problem: platforms have never truly committed to compensating everyday creators. Earn with Picsart is our commitment to the millions who have made this community what it is. It’s open, structured, and straightforward — show up, make things, and if your content performs, you get paid,” Avoyan said in a statement.
Founded in 2011, Picsart has grown to serve more than 130 million users worldwide. The company reached unicorn status—a term for a privately held startup valued at over $1 billion—in 2021 amid the creator economy boom. The expansion into creator monetization follows the company’s recent announcement that it is launching an AI agent marketplace, where creators can hire AI assistants for tasks such as resizing social content or editing product photos on Shopify.
Why it matters
Picsart is shifting from a simple creative tool to a platform where users can earn revenue. This strategic move is likely intended to boost creator retention and engagement.
